چکیده

Additive manufacturing (AM) has enabled the creation of geometrically complex parts for a range industries. However, nature AM often requires multiple post processing techniques to be carried out reach desired material properties or required surface finish. This involves heat treatment (HT), shot peening (SP) laser shock (LSP). To date, hardly any process chain modelling been on applications with AM. investigation focuses finite element (FE) complete an impeller made IN718, including AM, HT, LSP and SP processes. The particular applied build is powder bed fusion (L-PBF). Each FE validated individually against experimental data before being chain. from each mapped next in investigate combined effects techniques. Results have shown that high tensile residual stresses induced by can reduced approximately 75% applying HT. processes further modify remaining after HT inducing layer compressive at surface. In summary, this research work demonstrated simulation chains using sufficiently mature support product development industrial components.

Mesoscopic Simulation of Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow in Laser Powder Bed Additive Manufacturing

Laser-powder bed fusion (L-PBF) additive manufacturing involves complex physics such as heat transfer and molten metal flow, which have a significant influence on the final build quality. In this study, transport phenomena based modeling is used to provide a quantitative understanding of complex molten pool transients. In particular, a three dimensional (3D), transient numerical model is develo...

Study of the Microstructure and Cracking Mechanisms of Hastelloy X Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

Hastelloy X (HX) is a Ni-based superalloy which suffers from high crack susceptibility during the laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) process. In this work, the microstructure of as-built HX samples was rigorously investigated to understand the main mechanisms leading to crack formation. The microstructural features of as-built HX samples consisted of very fine dendrite architectures with dimensions...

Laser powder bed fusion of Ti-6Al-4V parts: Thermal modeling and mechanical implications

A continuum-scale modeling approach is developed and employed with three-dimensional finite element analysis (FEA), for simulating the temperature response of a Ti-6Al-4V, two-layered parallelepiped with dimensions of 10×5×0.06 mm during Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF), a metals additive manufacturing (AM) method. The model has been validated using experimental melt pool measurements from the l...
